This collection is based on my great grandmother Fortunata. She immigrated to Thunder Bay from Italy at the turn of the century and raised 7 children during the depression era. I would spend each Sunday in her small, cheerful apartment hearing stories of here survival, and all the strength it took her as a mother in such trying times. She always wore cotton dresses with a 1" heal, and I can still hear her voice calling as we knocked on the door "common in!" she would yell to us.Â
